Servicing Brisbane, South East Queensland & Sunshine Coast
Servicing Brisbane, South East Queensland & Sunshine Coast

Getting a new metal roof installed properly starts well before the first sheet goes on. The profile selection, the batten and tie-down specification, the flashing detailing at every junction and penetration, the way cappings are bedded and sealed. These are the decisions that determine whether a metal roof performs reliably for decades or creates problems within a few years.
Custom Profile Roofing specialises in metal roof installation across Brisbane, SEQ, and the Sunshine Coast. We work with all common Colorbond and Zincalume profiles on residential new builds, renovations and extensions, and commercial and industrial properties. Every installation is scoped in writing, carried out by our own QBCC-licensed tradespeople, and handed over with full workmanship documentation.
What every installation includes:
QBCC-licensed tradespeople on the tools throughout the project
On-site inspection, measurement, and photo documentation before scope is confirmed
Written quote covering profile, material, colour, inclusions, and total cost
Site safety plan for edge protection and access requirements
Workmanship guarantee on the completed installation
Full site clean and handover with warranty documentation
Working alongside builders and owner-builders on new residential construction across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
We coordinate with the build schedule, work to plan specifications, and deliver a completed metal roofing installation that is watertight and ready for the trades that follow.
New metal roof Brisbane projects are a consistent part of our work across all common Queensland build types.
Extending an existing home or renovating and replacing the roof as part of a broader project.
We tie new metal roofing into existing structures cleanly, manage all junction flashings between new and existing sections, and ensure every transition point is watertight.
For whole-of-home renovations, replacing the roof at the start of the build protects the rest of the work throughout the project.
New metal roof installation on commercial and industrial properties including warehouses, sheds, factories, retail buildings, and multi-tenancy developments.
Commercial installation projects vary significantly in scale and we have the equipment and team to manage large-span roofing safely and efficiently.
Colorbond roof installation for commercial projects are quoted and managed as standalone scopes with the same written process and safety standards as residential work.
For builders, designers, and owner-builders working with concealed-fix or custom-profile metal roofing on design-led projects, we install architectural metal roofing systems where the detailing and finish require a higher level of care.
We advise on profile selection, junction detailing, and compatible accessories to achieve both the performance and the aesthetic outcome required.

Homeowners and builders across Queensland have chosen metal roofing as the default for good reasons. Here is a practical summary of what makes it the right choice for most Queensland properties:
Metal roofing handles the Queensland climate well. Modern Colorbond and Zincalume steel products are engineered for Australian UV exposure, high humidity, and the wind and rain loads that come with Queensland storm seasons. Properly installed and detailed metal roofing performs reliably with very little ongoing maintenance compared to many alternatives.
Metal roofing is significantly lighter than cement or terracotta tile. For new builds, this can reduce structural requirements and associated costs. For renovation projects on older homes, the reduced structural load is often an important factor when comparing roofing options with an engineer or builder.
A new metal roof installed with quality materials and correctly detailed flashings requires minimal ongoing maintenance. The primary tasks are keeping gutters clear, inspecting flashings and cappings every few years, and checking penetration seals around solar panels and vents. There are no individual tiles to crack, slip, or replace.
The Colorbond colour range gives architects, builders, and homeowners a wide palette to work with across multiple profile options. Whether the requirement is a contemporary low-pitch concealed-fix roof, a classic corrugated profile on a heritage renovation, or a specific colour match to an existing structure, the options available in modern Australian steel roofing cover most design requirements.
A new roof installation is the most cost-effective time to install Anticon reflective sarking and insulation, upgrade or add roof ventilation, or replace gutters and fascia. These upgrades are significantly cheaper to carry out when the roof structure is already accessible than at any later point.

Colorbond steel is manufactured by Bluescope in Australia and is the benchmark product for residential metal roofing across Queensland. It incorporates Thermatech solar reflectance technology and is available in a comprehensive colour range with manufacturer warranty coverage.
Zincalume is the unpainted zinc-aluminium alloy equivalent, widely specified for rural, industrial, and coastal environments where corrosion resistance takes priority over colour selection. Both products are available across multiple roofing profiles and we install both across all project types.
Concealed-fix. No exposed fasteners. Strong wind-uplift resistance.
Low-pitch residential and commercial roofs
Excellent. No exposed screw points to corrode.
Exposed-fix wide-rib profile. Strong and cost-effective across a wide pitch range.
Residential and commercial builds, renovations
Good with corrosion-resistant fasteners specified.
Exposed-fix classic ribbed profile. Suited to a wide pitch range.
Heritage homes, rural properties, architectural projects
Good with appropriate fastener specification.
We will recommend the right profile for your specific roof pitch, exposure level, and project requirements as part of the quoting process. There is no single right answer for every build.
A complete metal roof installation includes more than just the sheets. Every installation we carry out includes correctly specified and installed ridge cappings, barge cappings, valley gutters, all junction and penetration flashings, and appropriate sealant systems for the profile and exposure level. If gutters and fascia are within the project scope, we include these as a clearly defined line item in the written quote.
In Queensland, contracting to carry out building work over the applicable value threshold requires a current Queensland Building and Construction Commission licence of the appropriate class. This applies to metal roofing installation as it does to other categories of building work.
Before engaging any roofing contractor for a new installation project, we recommend verifying that they hold a current QBCC licence appropriate for the work scope. You can check a contractor's licence status directly through the QBCC licence search on the QBCC website. This takes two minutes and is worth doing before any significant roofing work.
Custom Profile Roofing holds the appropriate QBCC licensing for the metal roofing installation work we carry out. All installations are covered by our workmanship guarantee and by the applicable manufacturer warranties on Bluescope steel products.

Our written quotes cover the full scope of the installation: the profile and material specified, the Colorbond colour selected, all sheeting, flashings, cappings, and sealants required, any structural preparation work identified during the site visit, penetration management for solar panels, skylights, and vents, and the site safety provisions. Any inclusions such as sarking, ventilation, or gutters and fascia are listed as separate line items. There are no items held back from the quote that appear on the invoice.
A standard residential new build or renovation roof installation typically takes two to four working days depending on size, pitch, access, and the number of penetrations and junctions. Larger or more complex roofs and commercial projects take longer. We provide a realistic timeline in the written quote and communicate early if anything on site affects it.
Yes. Colorbond roof installation is a core part of our work on both new residential construction and renovation projects across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. For new builds we coordinate with the builder's schedule and work to plan specifications. For renovations we assess the existing structure during the site visit and include any required batten or tie-down upgrades in the written scope.
It depends on the project. Klip-Lok is a concealed-fix profile with no exposed fasteners, which gives a cleaner finish, stronger wind-uplift resistance, and no screw washers to degrade over time. It suits low-pitch roofs and contemporary or coastal builds well. Corrugated iron is an exposed-fix classic profile suited to a wider pitch range and commonly specified for heritage homes, rural properties, and architectural projects where the traditional ribbed form is part of the design intent. Trimdek sits between the two in terms of cost and performance. We advise on the right option for your specific pitch, exposure, and aesthetic during the quoting conversation.
Yes. Anticon reflective sarking and insulation can be installed under the new sheeting as part of the installation scope. Roof ventilation including whirlybirds and ridge vents can be included at the same time. Both are significantly cheaper to install during a new roof project than at any later stage. They are listed as optional line items in the quote so you can decide based on your priorities and budget.
We do not install metal roofing in active rain. For projects spanning multiple days, the roof structure is left in a secure and weather-protected condition at the end of each working day. We plan schedules around forecast weather where possible and communicate early if conditions require changes. If unexpected weather arrives mid-job, we secure the site and return when conditions allow. We do not leave a roof open overnight.
A well-installed modern metal roof requires very little maintenance. The key tasks are keeping gutters and downpipes clear of debris, inspecting flashings and cappings every few years for sealant cracking or lifting, and checking penetration seals around solar panel mounts and vents periodically. In coastal environments, washing the roof surface annually helps remove salt deposit buildup that can accelerate corrosion over time. We cover maintenance recommendations in the handover documentation on every project.
Yes. Where gutters and downpipes are included in the project scope, they are clearly itemised in the written quote as a separate line item. Installing new gutters and fascia at the same time as the roof is the most cost-effective approach because access is already set up and the roofline is already being worked on. If your existing gutters are in good condition and not part of the scope, we check and clear them as part of the standard clean-up at handover.
This is a common question and the honest answer is: it depends on the installation. A metal roof with Anticon sarking installed underneath is measurably quieter than an unsarked metal roof in heavy rain because the sarking acts as both a sound dampener and an insulation layer. Without sarking, exposed metal roofing does conduct rain noise more than a sarked system or a tiled roof with ceiling insulation below. If noise is a consideration for your project, we recommend including sarking in the scope. We can walk you through the options during the quoting conversation.
